After graduation, he completed a Dental Residency Program with the Hillsborough County Dental Research Clinic; here he created a special denture trauma splint for patients of the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida.

Often times, people ask about his unique name, Bellegarrigue. It is of Basque origin (Spanish). His mother and father were born and raised in the small Latin American country of El Salvador but moved to the United States prior to his birth. The son of a neurosurgeon and an engineer, he was taught the value of a good education and hard work.
