Comparing Six Month Smile with Other Orthodontic Treatments

Six Month SmileTaking the time to review Six Month Smiles® and other orthodontic solutions is wise if you are looking to straighten your teeth. Modern dentistry has revolutionized orthodontics making it possible to straighten your teeth in a variety of ways. As an adult, you have access to these solutions and determining which one you should select, is partly based on science but also based on personal preference and your lifestyle choices. We will explain some of the options to help make that process easier.

How Long it Takes

The exact amount of time that you will need to spend straightening your teeth will be based on the position that they are in currently in relation to how far your teeth need to be moved. Additionally, your jaw will be aligned during the orthodontic treatment and whether or not you need to use special appliances or even have oral surgery will be determined during the examination phase. Keeping that in mind, the average person spends around two years to straighten their teeth.

Six Month Smiles® is designed to move your teeth much faster. Rather than spending two years wearing braces, you can straighten your teeth in as little as six months and sometimes even less than that. With innovative technology, an improved bracket design, and wires that are designed to move your teeth quickly, yet comfortably, this is an incredibly effective and time efficient way to get the smile you have been looking for.

One of the biggest questions we hear from patients is, "If the process takes less time will it hurt more?"  The answer is no.  Straightening your teeth with Six Month Smiles® is relatively comfortable.

How they Look

When straightening your teeth, you can select either traditional metal braces where a square metal bracket will be bonded to the surface of each of your teeth with a metal wire threaded between them, or you can choose to straighten your teeth with clear braces. Clear braces come in several forms. You can wear aligners that surround your teeth and look like a full retainer or you can use clear brackets and tooth-colored wires that will blend in with your teeth.  Six Month Smiles® uses clear or tooth-colored brackets and wires so that they blend in and do not distract from your smile. Given that your teeth can be straightened without it being obvious, this is a clear winner in this category as well. The aligners may be even more discrete but they still take around two years so the slight advantage on appearance does not make up for the time that you lose when that is your major priority.

The Cost

Six Month Smiles® is comparable and sometimes less money than traditional braces or aligners because you spend less time being treated. That means fewer trips to our dentist office and less time with us needing to examine you. As we save time, you save money.

To find out if this incredible solution is right for you, call our office and schedule an appointment. We can examine you, take X-rays, and let you know if this is the best way to straighten your teeth.
