Patients need to brush their teeth each morning with a fluoridated toothpaste by using the proper technique. The proper technique includes positioning the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle with the gums. Then move it in short circles across the teeth. Patients also need to brush all surfaces of the tooth for a thorough clean.

Move the tip of the toothbrush to the inside portion of the teeth and clean with a light up and down stroke. People need to also remember to brush their tongues with a toothbrush or tongue scraper. Rinse with an anti-cavity, anti-microbial fluoride-infused mouth rinse before heading out for the day.

This mouth rinse will freshen the breath, keep teeth healthy and protect the gums. The anti-microbial variety decreases bacteria as well as plaque activity that can lead to gingivitis and gum disease.  Fluoridated mouth rinses thwart tooth decay. However, fluoridated mouth rinses are not advisable for children age 6 and younger as they might mistakenly swallow them.

Visit the Dentist two Times per Year
