North Tampa Dentistry
A Great Dentist

What are dental sealants?

At North Tampa Dentistry, our goal is to achieve and maintain healthy smiles for our patients. This is why we emphasize preventive dentistry. Our preventive dentistry lowers your risks for preventable oral health conditions, including tooth cavities.

Preventive dentistry may include the following:

  • Dental exams
  • Teeth cleanings
  • Fluoride treatments
  • Dental sealants
  • Diagnostic x-rays

Dental sealants are thin layers of white resin filling material bonded over the chewing surfaces of molars. They are generally done on children to prevent cavities during the cavity-prone younger years on adult teeth. They don’t last forever, but that’s ok; they don’t have to. This barrier between your enamel and your teeth is usually recommended if your child (or you) are susceptible to cavities.

Cavities are areas of decay on teeth that require intervention from your Tampa dentist. We gently numb the location, clear away the infection, and provided a filling. While these fillings are durable and aesthetically-pleasing, we'd prefer that you have no cavities at all.
